Nails are an important part of the aesthetics of any person, whether man or woman, there is nothing better than having impeccable nails. But in the particular case of women, the use of nail polish has become a need to meet certain standards of care and beauty.
However, when using nail polish there are some things that are overlooked. So, it is necessary to have a good nail care routine, whether you decide to use nail polish or simply wear them natural.
Nail care routine
Hygiene is the main thing, so start by washing your hands and removing any trace of dirt you may have on your nails. Then, you can use the nail clippers if necessary, keep in mind that all your nails should have the same length, which looks aesthetically pleasing, because it represents hygiene and delicacy.
Now you should file your nails in the same direction, for example, from right to left, so that, you can have a uniform result. Filing is very important, as it will allow you to have a smooth edge and improve those imperfections that the nail clippers usually leave, such as a very sharp corner.
Finally, apply brightening base coat, preferably a hardener base coat, since it will protect and strengthen your nails. Besides, it gives them a touch that looks great.
In case you are going to use nail polish, you must keep in mind that you must follow the previous steps, first apply the base coat and then, when it dries, apply the nail polish on top of it. But why do you need to follow this order? Sometimes the use of nail polish directly on the nail can end up staining it, and after a while the natural nail usually ends up with a yellowish tone, unnatural and unpleasant. To avoid this, apply the base coat in between.
To finish the polish, it is important to apply a layer of top coat. In this way, the polish can be preserved better and for a longer period of time.
Some tips for nail care
We have already shown you a basic nail care routine, but now we will give you some tips that will allow you to show off healthy and strong nails so that you have the freedom to wear them short or long without fear that they end up breaking easily. For this reason, we recommend you the following tips:
- Maintain a healthy diet: sometimes it is said that we are what we eat. In a way, it is so, because depending on our diet, our body will be in better conditions. Therefore, to have strong and healthy nails, we recommend you food rich in calcium and vitamins A and B.
- Protect your nails: it is important to protect your nails when cleaning, scrubbing, or using any chemical product. So, the best thing to do is to use gloves. This will not only protect your nails, but also the skin of your hands. Did you know that the hands are one of the first parts of the body to show signs of aging? It is largely because they are not protected.
- Moisturizing cuticles: for that there are products specifically created to moisturize cuticles. This usually comes in the form of a dropper, a drop on each cuticle along with a brief massage every time you have finished applying the nail polish (being the nail polish already dry) is more than enough.
- Don’t smoke: cigarette smoke not only affects your health, but also gives a yellowish tone to your nails.
Finally, remember to use a nail polish remover without acetone, because when removing nail polish, you need to use a specific product for this purpose. Do not use a nail file, as this will weaken the nail. In addition, the use of acetone weakens the keratin and dries out the nails, so it is best to always use an acetone-free nail polish remover.
Do acrylic and gel nails damage the natural nail?
It cannot be denied that when applying this type of artificial nails, whether using tip or not, they deteriorate the natural nail a little bit due to the filing on the nail for a correct adherence of the product.
In addition, this type of product does not allow the nail to “breathe” to strengthen itself, which makes it weaker and weaker. It is therefore recommended to establish rest periods, so that, after wearing these artificial nails for a couple of months, you should have your nails natural.
Finally, keep in mind that when removing the acrylic or gel from your natural nail, you should go to the same place where they were placed or any other center specialized in it, so that they can properly remove this product without damaging your natural nail, or causing really painful discomfort.
